OUR MISSION

The mission of the St. Louis Black Heritage Network is to build a continuous engaging community that elevates crucial stories and the everyday lives of African American history within St. Louis and the surrounding regions.

Examine the historic beliefs, values and customs the St. Louis African American community has shared, and how these have changed over time. To unite communities, it is important to share inspiration that brings people together and crosses racial lines. By understanding the cultural context of the past, we can gain a deeper appreciation of the present and a better understanding of our future.

Learning about local Black Heritage and culture helps students of all ages understand the contributions of African Americans to St. Louis society, and to promote diversity and inclusion. By incorporating the most accurate history into our curriculums, educators can inspire students to become more culturally aware and socially responsible individuals.

We are dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich history and culture of St. Louis Black Heritage.
