Originally called the East St. Louis Senior Citizen Building, the center was renamed after the death of Clyde C. Jordan Sr. in 1987. Jordan, a respected newspaper publisher, philanthropist, and community leader, served as East St. Louis Township Supervisor and president of the East St. Louis School District 189 Board. He received awards from more than one hundred local organizations. Today, the Clyde C. Jordan Senior Center provides programs and activities that support senior citizens in the community.
