In 1932, 40 feet of the Argus space was taken over by the city to widen Market Street to a 100 ft boulevard necessitating the need for a new building. The new office building was built entirely by Black stonemasons, bricklayers, roofers, carpenters, structural iron workers, concrete workers, plasterers, plumbers, steam fitters, painters and electricians
